Willis Group Holdings Limited has announced that Gerry McCarthy has been appointed to the position of senior vice president and regional director of the Construction and Real Estate Claim teams of Willis of New York, Inc.

He brings experience accumulated over more than two decades, and leaves behind Allied North America where he served as senior vice president responsible for managing the claims department.

Earlier in his career he worked as co-managing attorney of Jones Hirsch Connors and Bull, P.C., and has also worked with Wilson, Elser, Moskowitz, Edelman and Dicker, and AIG.

McCarthy will assume responsibility for the leadership of both the Construction and Real Estate teams.

In addition to this he is tasked with establishing strategies to address risk-transfer and claims resolution that will lower costs to clients.

The executive vice president of Willis Americas, Dorien Smithson, has welcomed McCarthy to the firm, and praised his extensive experience.
